Dr. Dimopoulos is a full-time neurosurgeon with Cayuga Medical Associates and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Rochester. He has completed a spine fellowship at University of Miami and has a strong passion for the treatment of spine disease and a special interest in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Dimopoulos also treats brain and spinal tumors, in addition to performing a broad range of cranial neurosurgery. He graduated from the University of Patras School of Medicine, after which he fulfilled his mandatory military service as a flight surgeon in the Hellenic Air Force in Greece. Dr. Dimopoulos completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Rochester and a fellowship in Spine Surgery at the University of Miami. He most recently led the minimally invasive spine program at the University at Buffalo and has more than 40 research publications.

Dr. Mahmoud began practicing at Cayuga Health in the fall of 2020. He was most recently chief of neurosurgery and plastic surgery at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC, where he was also medical director of the neurosurgery program. Earlier, he had clinical and teaching positions at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, OH and Ohio University of Osteopathic Medicine, Division of Neurological Surgery in Athens, OH. Dr. Mahmoud is also an Associate Professor of Clinical Neurosurgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He got his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from W. Virginia State College, Dunbar, WV before his getting medical degree at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Lewisburg, WV. Dr. Mahmoud has had many teaching appointments, directed neuroscience programs at medical centers and had private practices in Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
