COVID-19 Response FUND

In order to help address the specific needs related to the Cayuga Health System response to the COVID-19 pandemic we have established COVID-19 Emergency Response Funds at both Cayuga Medical Center and Schuyler Hospital. Whether it is for supplies, equipment or other costs required for this effort, these funds will be quickly distributed to areas of greatest need, determined by our administration and providers.

Volunteer

One of the greatest things someone can give is their time. We have identified sewing surgical masks as an area where we would gladly accept homemade versions. We have two options available for this right now. We are offering people the option to go on-site at Bartels Hall where we have stations set up with appropriate distancing or we can accept masks made from home.

The process for masks made at home is that once the masks are dropped off, they begin our sanitization process. The masks are transported to our main campus laundry where they will be thoroughly washed and dried. They will then go to our Sterile Processing department to be thoroughly sanitized. Once that is complete they will be transported to our staff to use until soiled and then begin the process again.

Donations of Technology

In order to assist our patients with communication with friends and family , we are encouraging the donation of:

New or used iPads or other tablets that:

  • have a front-facing camera
  • have been reset - instructions here
  • is placed in a ziplock bag (with power cord if possible)

These can be taken to any of the drop off sites listed, where they will be gratefully accepted.

Donations of Food

The outpouring of support we have received has been wonderful and inspirational. We have received several offers of donated food to support our healthcare workers who are on the frontline of this crisis. We continue to be grateful for this and welcome this generosity.

Due to the mandated suspension of visitation by the State of New York and to ensure the safety of all those involved with the care of our patients, we have instituted the following process for accepting food donations at the Cayuga Medical Center:

  1. Donated food should be left on the table provided at the main entrance.
  2. When the food is delivered, a member of our Nutrition and Dining team will be notified so they can distribute appropriately.
  3. Those donating the food will be recognized for their generosity and support.

Thank you for supporting our COVID-19 response.
